Pete Kaffey is entering his 4th season as the Program Director for AZ Compass Basketball. Kaffey represents AZ Compass Basketball on a national scene as one of the most well-developed recruiters that builds players into becoming their best both on and off the floor. Kaffey has an extensive reputation with developing top high school talents into becoming professionals. As a Minneapolis, Minnesota native, Kaffey worked with high-level players from the area which included Rashad Vaughn, a former member of the Milwaukee Bucks and the 17th overall draft selection in the 2015 NBA Draft. From 2006 to 2013 Kaffey began his coaching career at Robbinsdale Cooper High School, leading the sophomore team and serving as the Associate Head Coach for the varsity program in his home city, Minneapolis. Following that, Kaffey joined the Findlay Prep staff serving in the role as an assistant coach as well being the head of player development. During his years at Findlay Prep, the program was consistently at the top of the USA Today polls, ranking #1 for consecutive weeks at a time. Skill development in the Findlay Prep program consisted of designing daily practice plans that pushed future draft prospects to new heights physically, mentally, and emotionally. Moving forward from his time at Findlay Prep, Kaffey worked for the NBA Draft Net from 2015-2016 as a scout and writer. Leading to his current position as director of the AZ Compass Prep Dragons, Kaffey has helped produce 3 great classes of athletes that have gone on to sign full-ride scholarships at all levels of the NCAA and a 100% graduation rate. During the 2020-2021 season, AZ Compass became the first team to go undefeated on the Under Armor Grind Session circuit finishing with a league championship. The Dragons went on to compete at Geico Nationals finishing in the Final Four. Furthermore, each senior from the previous class of 2021 moved on to sign Division I scholarships following their graduation from AZ Compass Prep. As the 2021-2022 season begins, under the direction of Kaffey, AZ Compass Prep has partnered with Nike as one of their elite programs with a talented roster looking forward to competing against the best competition in the country.
